From Romulus Up I-275

Canton and Plymouth are northwest of our warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus. For most addresses the route is simply I-275 north, getting off at Michigan Avenue, Ford Road or Ann Arbor Road depending on where you are. Haggerty, Lilley, Sheldon and Canton Center Road run north–south through the area if you prefer surface streets. Plan on roughly 20 to 30 minutes; southern Canton is closer, and the north side of Plymouth Township toward M-14 is farther.

The area is large, and the cross streets matter more here than in a compact city. When you call, tell us the nearest major intersection — Ford and Sheldon, Ann Arbor Road and Main, and so on — so we can plan the route and timing.

Picking up yourself

In-stock items can be picked up at the warehouse during store hours — Wednesday through Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday 11am–4pm, Sunday 12pm–3pm. Bring a truck, van or trailer that fits the piece, and our staff will help you load. Call ahead to confirm the item is available. Highway speed on I-275 is hard on a loosely tied load; use ratchet straps rather than rope, and lay mattresses flat.

Canton: Subdivisions, Colonials and Condos

Much of Canton was developed from the 1970s onward, and a large share of its homes are in subdivisions built in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Compared with the older suburbs closer to Detroit, you will generally find bigger houses, wider doors and more open floor plans. That makes delivery easier in some ways and introduces a different set of pinch points.

Two-story colonials

The typical Canton colonial has the bedrooms upstairs, reached by a staircase from the foyer. Some have a two-story foyer with a straight run; many have a landing partway up where the stairs turn 90 or 180 degrees. That landing is what decides whether a tall chest or a large dresser makes it to the second floor. The upstairs hallway can also be tighter than the downstairs rooms suggest.

Finished basements

A lot of Canton homes have finished basements used as family rooms, media rooms or guest suites, which means sectionals, recliners, sleeper sofas, TV stands and pool-table-sized pieces going downstairs. Finished basements add things an unfinished one does not: a door at the bottom of the stairs, a soffit carrying ductwork, or a drywall return that narrows the turn. Measure the finished opening, not the framing you remember.

Condos and townhouses

Canton also has many condo and townhouse communities. Townhouse-style units often have bedrooms on a second floor with a narrower stair than a detached house, and an attached garage that is the easiest way in. Ranch-style condos are usually simpler. Some associations have rules about delivery hours or trucks on private roads; check before delivery day.

Plymouth: Older Homes Near Downtown

Plymouth is a different picture. The city has an older core around downtown and Kellogg Park, with homes going back many decades, including early twentieth-century houses on smaller lots. Plymouth Township, which shares the 48170 ZIP, is largely newer subdivisions closer in style to Canton.

For the older homes near downtown, plan as you would for any older house: steeper and narrower stairs to the second floor, smaller bedroom doors, and sometimes a front porch with steps and a railing. Some of these houses have had additions or renovations, so the path from the door to the room may not be obvious from the street. Walk it with a tape measure.

πŸ’‘ Tell Us Which Plymouth “Plymouth” covers both a walkable older downtown and newer township subdivisions. If you are near downtown, mention street parking and the age of the house when you call; it changes how the crew plans the approach.

Measuring Checklist for Two-Story Homes

  1. Front door or garage entry — clear width with storm doors open, and the steps from the garage into the house.
  2. Stair landing — depth of the landing, width of the stairs, and ceiling height above the landing where tall pieces are tipped.
  3. Upstairs hallway and bedroom doors — often narrower than the main-floor openings.
  4. Finished basement opening — stair width, headroom under any soffit, the door or turn at the bottom.
  5. Room clearances — open floor plans are generous, but measure where the sectional, TV stand or dining table will actually sit.
  6. Access — any condo association rules, private roads or gate codes.

Compare the smallest opening with the piece’s depth and diagonal depth. Our measuring guide covers stair landings in detail, and the fit checker does the comparison for you.

Quotes and Scheduling

We quote delivery by phone, per address and per item. Call (734) 444-7277 with your Canton or Plymouth address and what you are buying, and we will price it before you commit. Tell us whether pieces are going upstairs or to a finished basement, which entrance to use, and anything about your community’s rules.

Delivery days follow our Wednesday–Sunday store schedule; we are closed Monday and Tuesday. Someone 18 or older must be home to direct placement and sign. Inspect everything before signing and write any damage on the paperwork. Products in our Amazon and Walmart listings are shipped by those retailers, not by us.

For the full overview, see our Southeast Michigan delivery page. Neighboring areas are covered on the Westland page and, farther west, the Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver to both Canton and Plymouth?

Yes. We deliver to Canton ZIPs 48187 and 48188 and to Plymouth, 48170, which includes both the city and much of Plymouth Township. Delivery is quoted per address and item by phone, so call (734) 444-7277 with your address and what you are buying. We will price it before you commit and note anything about the job that needs planning.

Can a king bed go up the stairs in a two-story colonial?

Usually yes, because a king bed frame comes in pieces and most king box springs are split into two halves. The pieces to measure for are tall chests, armoires, large dressers with mirrors and one-piece headboards. Check the stair width, the depth of any landing where the stairs turn, and the ceiling height above that landing before you buy.

Will a sectional fit down to my finished basement?

Most sectionals do, because they arrive as separate pieces. Measure the basement stair width, the headroom at the top of the stairs, and the turn at the bottom. Finished basements sometimes have a soffit or a door at the bottom of the stairs that narrows the opening. Give us those numbers along with the sectional you are considering.

My condo has an attached garage. Can the crew use it?

Often that is the easiest way in, because the garage entry tends to have fewer steps than the front door. Tell us when you schedule which entrance you want used, and clear a path through the garage. If your condo association has rules about delivery hours or trucks in shared drives, let us know so we can plan around them.

Is warehouse pickup practical from Canton or Plymouth?

Yes, if you have the vehicle for it. In-stock items can be picked up at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus, a straightforward drive down I-275. Come during store hours, Wednesday through Sunday, with a truck, van or trailer that fits the piece and our staff will help load. Call ahead to confirm the item is in stock.
