Furniture Delivery in Dearborn & Dearborn Heights

πŸ“ ZIPs 48120–48128 πŸš— About 20 minutes northeast πŸ•’ Wed–Sun

Getting There From Romulus

Dearborn and Dearborn Heights are northeast of our warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus, roughly 20 minutes away for most addresses, longer at rush hour. The usual route is I-94 east, then north on the Southfield Freeway (M-39) or Telegraph Road depending on which side of the area you are on. Michigan Avenue, Ford Road, Warren Avenue, Cherry Hill and Outer Drive are the main roads once you are there.

The two cities sit side by side. Dearborn covers the east and west sides around the Ford campus, Greenfield Village and the University of Michigan–Dearborn, and Dearborn Heights runs along the western and northern side toward Westland and Inkster. Telling us the nearest major cross streets is the quickest way to help us plan.

Picking up yourself

In-stock items can be picked up at the warehouse during store hours — Wednesday through Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday 11am–4pm, Sunday 12pm–3pm. Bring a pickup, van or trailer that fits the piece, and our staff will help you load. Call before you leave so we can confirm the item is ready. Twenty minutes on I-94 is long enough for an unstrapped dresser to tip, so bring straps and blankets.

Bungalows, Colonials and Ranches

This area has some of the most varied housing we deliver to, and it changes block by block.

Much of Dearborn was built in the 1920s through the 1940s. You will find a lot of brick bungalows and small colonials on narrow lots, many with a side drive, a detached garage in the back, and a full basement. Some neighborhoods have alleys. Lots are close together, and the side door between houses is often the main way in.

Much of Dearborn Heights was built later, after the war, and leans toward one-story brick ranches with basements, along with some bi-levels and newer construction. The planning here looks more like Westland or Taylor: narrow interior doors and basement stairs.

There are also apartment buildings and condos in both cities, some with elevators and many without. Tell us the floor and whether there is an elevator.

The side-door landing

In many older Dearborn homes the side door opens onto a small landing: a few steps up to the kitchen, a straight flight down to the basement. It is the most common tight spot we see in this kind of house. Anything long — a sofa, a box spring, a sleeper — has to be stood on end and pivoted on a landing that may be only three or four feet deep, with a low ceiling over the basement stairs.

Front doors and porches

Bungalow front doors often open into the living room directly, which is good news. The front porch steps and a heavy storm door are usually the only obstacles. Measure the clear width with the storm door open and check whether the porch has a railing that narrows the approach.

The Upstairs Half-Story Problem

The single most important thing to know if you live in an older Dearborn bungalow: measure the upstairs before buying bedroom furniture for it.

Many bungalows have a finished half-story upstairs under the roof, with sloped ceilings and knee walls along the sides. The stairs to it are often steep and narrow, sometimes enclosed between walls, sometimes with a turn at the top and a low ceiling where the roof slopes over the stairwell. Furniture that fits easily in the room may never get up the stairs.

What usually causes trouble:

  • One-piece queen and king box springs. They do not bend. A split box spring (two halves) or a platform bed is the usual answer.
  • Tall dressers and chests. A chest that stands taller than the ceiling at the top of the stairs cannot be tipped upright there.
  • Tall headboards. Sloped ceilings also limit what fits against the wall once you are in the room, so measure the height where the bed will actually go.
  • Wide dressers under a knee wall. A low dresser may tuck under the slope; a tall one may only fit on the gable wall.
⚠️ Measure Headroom on the Stairs On steep bungalow stairs, measure straight up from a tread near the top to the lowest point of the ceiling above it. That number — often much lower than a standard ceiling — is what limits how tall a piece can be while it is being carried up.

Dearborn Measuring Checklist

  1. Front door clear width with the storm door open, and porch railing width.
  2. Side-door landing depth, and ceiling height over the basement stairs.
  3. Basement stair width and the turn at the bottom, if anything is going down.
  4. Upstairs stair width, headroom at the top, and any turn.
  5. Upstairs ceiling height where each piece will stand, including under the slope.
  6. Interior doorways in Dearborn Heights ranches — bedroom doors are often narrower than you expect.
  7. Where the truck can park: driveway width, alley access, or street parking.

Our measuring guide explains diagonal depth and stair clearances in detail, and the fit checker compares your numbers to the piece.

Quotes, Scheduling and Delivery Day

Delivery is quoted per address and per item by phone. Call (734) 444-7277 with your address and what you are buying, and we will give you the price before you commit. Mention the destination floor, a side-door-only entry, upstairs half-story rooms, limited street parking or an alley — these change how the crew plans.

Delivery days follow our Wednesday–Sunday schedule; we are closed Monday and Tuesday. Someone 18 or older must be home to direct placement and sign. Inspect every piece before signing and write any damage on the paperwork. Products from our Amazon and Walmart listings are shipped by those retailers, not by us.

For the full overview of delivery and pickup, see the Southeast Michigan delivery page. Neighbors to the east are covered on our Detroit page, and to the south on the Taylor page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Dearborn and Dearborn Heights ZIP codes do you deliver to?

We deliver to Dearborn ZIPs 48120, 48124, 48126 and 48128, and Dearborn Heights ZIPs 48125 and 48127. The cost is quoted per address and item rather than by ZIP, so call (734) 444-7277 with your address and what you are buying. We will give you the quote before you commit and flag anything about the job that needs planning.

Will a queen box spring fit up the stairs to my bungalow's upstairs bedroom?

Often it will not, and that is worth knowing before you buy. Many older bungalows have steep, narrow stairs to the half-story with a low ceiling at the top. A standard one-piece queen box spring can get stuck at the turn. A split box spring, which comes in two halves, or a platform-style bed that needs no box spring, avoids the problem entirely.

Can furniture go through the side door into my basement?

Usually, but measure the landing first. In many older Dearborn homes the side door opens onto a small landing with steps up to the kitchen and stairs down to the basement. The landing depth and the ceiling over the basement stairs limit how long a piece can be. Tell us when you schedule that the basement is the destination.

Is pickup at the warehouse an option for Dearborn customers?

Yes, for in-stock items. Our warehouse is at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus. Bring a truck, van or trailer large enough for the piece during store hours, Wednesday through Sunday, and our staff will help you load. Call ahead to confirm the item is available, and bring straps and blankets to protect it on I-94.

What if my street has limited parking for a truck?

Tell us when you schedule. Some older Dearborn blocks have narrow streets, parked cars on both sides and shared or narrow driveways. If there is an alley behind the house, a back entrance, or a better spot to stop, mention it. The crew plans the approach before they arrive rather than circling the block looking for room.
