Routes From Romulus
Downriver is close. Our warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus sits just off I-94 and I-275, and most Downriver addresses are roughly 15 to 25 minutes away depending on which community and the time of day.
- Allen Park and Lincoln Park: east on I-94, or down the Southfield Freeway. These are the closest of the group.
- Southgate and Wyandotte: east on Eureka Road, or by way of Telegraph, Fort Street or I-75 depending on which side of town you are on.
- Riverview and Trenton: south and east, often by I-275 to I-75, or across on Eureka and down West Jefferson along the river.
Because the drive is short, warehouse pickup is a practical option for Downriver buyers who have a truck, a van or a trailer. In-stock items can be picked up during store hours, and our staff will help load. Bring straps and blankets, and call ahead to make sure the piece is on the floor.
Downriver Housing and What It Means for Delivery
Downriver is not one kind of neighborhood, but a few housing types come up again and again.
Post-war bungalows and small brick homes
Much of Lincoln Park, Allen Park and Southgate was built out in the decades around the Second World War, and a lot of it is brick bungalows, small ranches and story-and-a-half homes. Front doors are usually standard width, but the trouble spots are inside: a short hallway with a tight corner into the bedroom, a narrow stair up to a finished attic bedroom with a sloped ceiling, and a basement stair that turns at the bottom.
Older homes near the river
Wyandotte and Trenton have older neighborhoods closer to the Detroit River, with some homes that predate the post-war boom. Expect narrower interior doors, steeper stairs, plaster walls and, in some houses, a front porch with steps before you even reach the door. These homes reward careful measuring.
Newer subdivisions and condos
Riverview and parts of Trenton and Southgate also have newer subdivisions, condos and apartment complexes. Those deliveries are usually straightforward, though second-floor condo units without an elevator are worth mentioning when you call.
The Basement Stair Problem
If there is one thing to measure twice Downriver, it is the basement stair. Finished basements are common here, and they are where a lot of sectionals, recliners, TV stands and second beds end up. They are also where deliveries most often stall.
The typical issues:
- Low headroom at the top. Many basement stairs have a ceiling or a floor joist right above the first few steps. You cannot stand a sofa up to clear it.
- A wall or turn at the bottom. A stair that dead-ends into a wall, or turns 90 degrees at the last step, limits how long a piece can be.
- A side door landing. In many bungalows the basement stair starts at a small landing by the side door, which leaves very little room to pivot.
- Width with railings. A handrail can take two or three inches off a stair that was already narrow.
The fix is usually in what you buy rather than what the crew does. A sectional that comes apart into smaller pieces, a sofa with removable legs and back cushions, or a recliner with a detachable back often goes where a one-piece unit will not.
Downriver Delivery Checklist
- Measure every doorway on the path, including the storm door and the side door if the crew might use it.
- Measure the basement stair: width between railings, headroom over the top step and clearance at the bottom.
- Check attic bedroom stairs in story-and-a-half homes, along with the sloped ceiling height where the bed will sit.
- Know the diagonal depth of any sofa or sectional piece. The Will It Fit? tool compares it to your door.
- Count the porch steps and note any loose railings or uneven concrete.
- Tell us about the driveway — a shared drive, a narrow side drive or a back alley all change where the truck parks.
- From about November through March, clear and salt the driveway, walk and steps before the truck arrives.
- Have someone 18 or older home to direct placement, and inspect everything before signing.
Guides Worth Reading First
Most Downriver housing is single-family homes, so these are the guides most worth reading:
- Will it fit? — the full measuring guide, including stair turns and headroom.
- Living room furniture — sofas and sectionals sized for bungalow living rooms.
- Recliner buying guide — wall clearance and which recliners suit a basement family room.
- TV and home theater — screen size for a basement rec room.
- Washers and dryers — for basement laundry areas.
- Outdoor and patio furniture — for backyards and decks.
Scheduling and Quoting
Call (734) 444-7277 with your address and the items you are buying. We quote delivery per address and per item, so the quote reflects where you live and what is going in. Mention the basement stair, attic bedroom or porch steps on that call so the plan accounts for them.
Delivery days follow our Wednesday through Sunday schedule. Someone 18 or older needs to be home to direct placement and sign, and we ask that you inspect every piece before signing. The full process is on our Southeast Michigan delivery page. If you are on the Taylor side of Downriver, our Taylor delivery page covers that area, and buyers farther south can see Monroe.
Items bought through our Amazon or Walmart listings are shipped by those retailers, not delivered by us.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Downriver communities do you deliver to?
From our Romulus warehouse we deliver throughout Downriver, including Lincoln Park (48146), Southgate (48195), Wyandotte (48192), Allen Park (48101), Riverview (48193) and Trenton (48183). Nearby communities such as Taylor, Brownstown and Woodhaven are covered too. If your town is not listed, call (734) 444-7277 and ask, because the list describes where we usually go rather than a strict boundary.
How long does it take to get from Downriver to your warehouse?
Usually about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on the community and traffic. Allen Park and Lincoln Park are closest by way of I-94 or the Southfield Freeway, while Riverview and Trenton are a little farther south and are often quickest by I-75 to I-275 or by Eureka Road. Our address is 6345 Beverly Plaza, Romulus, MI 48174.
Can you get a sectional down my basement stairs?
Sometimes, but measure before you buy. Many Downriver homes have basement stairs with a low ceiling over the top step and a turn or a wall at the bottom, and those two features stop more sofas than the door does. Measure the stair width, the headroom at the top and the clearance at the bottom turn, then compare them to the diagonal depth of each sectional piece.
Do you remove the old furniture when you deliver?
Ask when you call so we can tell you what is possible for your delivery. Either way, plan to have the old piece out of the room, or at least out of the delivery path, before the truck arrives. A crew carrying a new sofa through a living room with the old one still sitting in the middle of it slows everything down and risks damage to both.
What if I would rather pick up in Romulus?
That works well from Downriver because the drive is short. In-stock items can be picked up at 6345 Beverly Plaza during store hours: Wednesday to Friday 11am to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 4pm and Sunday noon to 3pm. Bring a truck or trailer, straps and blankets, and our staff will help you load. Call first to confirm the item is on the floor.
