Furniture Delivery in Monroe & Newport, MI

πŸ“ ZIPs 48161, 48162, 48166 πŸš— About 30 minutes south via I-275 / I-75 πŸ•’ Wed–Sun

Getting Here From the Warehouse

Monroe and Newport sit at the southern edge of our regular delivery area. From our warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus, the usual route is I-275 south to I-75 and on into Monroe County, and the drive to Monroe runs about 30 minutes under normal traffic. Newport is a bit closer.

That distance matters in two ways. It is part of every delivery quote, so a Monroe address will price differently from one in Romulus or Taylor. And it makes warehouse pickup a real trip rather than a quick errand, so it is worth planning.

If you are picking up

  • Call ahead at (734) 444-7277 to confirm the item is in stock and ready. Thirty minutes each way is a long drive for nothing.
  • Bring the right vehicle. A pickup truck or trailer. Our staff help load, but we cannot make a sofa fit into a hatchback.
  • Bring straps and blankets. Most of the trip is at highway speed on I-275 and I-75, which means real wind load on anything tall or flat. Strap upholstered pieces down and wrap wood pieces so they do not rub against the bed or each other.
  • Watch the weather. A mattress or upholstered piece in an open truck bed in rain needs a tarp, secured well enough that it will not flap loose at speed.
  • Mind the hours. Wednesday through Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday 11am–4pm, Sunday 12pm–3pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Housing in Monroe County and What It Means for Delivery

Monroe County mixes three quite different settings, and each one creates a different delivery problem.

Older homes in the city of Monroe

Monroe is one of the older cities in Michigan, and much of the housing near downtown and along the River Raisin is older: two-story houses, bungalows and early postwar homes. In those homes the constraint is usually inside: narrow interior doorways, enclosed stairs with a turn and a low ceiling, and steep basement steps. A sofa that fits through the front door can still get stuck at the stair landing. Front porches with several steps are common too, so count them and note whether there is a railing.

Rural homes and long drives

Outside the city, much of Monroe County is farmland and rural residential property. Long driveways, gravel or dirt drives, soft shoulders after rain, culverts and narrow crossings over drainage ditches, and low tree branches all affect how close a delivery truck can get. Pole barns, detached garages and outbuildings are also common. If you want a piece delivered to a barn or workshop rather than the house, say so.

Lake Erie shoreline homes

Along the Lake Erie shoreline in Monroe County, including the Newport area, there are lake homes, former cottages and seasonal houses. These can have narrow lots, raised foundations with exterior stairs, and small rooms in older cottage sections. Humidity near the water is also a consideration for what you buy, which we cover in the guides below.

A Monroe & Newport Delivery Checklist

Run through this before you call for a quote:

  • Driveway length and surface. Paved, gravel or dirt? Roughly how long? Is it soft after rain or in the spring thaw?
  • Anything between the road and the door that limits a truck: a ditch crossing, a gate, low branches, a tight turn, or no room to turn around.
  • Steps up to the door. Porches on older city homes and raised entries on lake houses both count. Note the number of steps and any turn.
  • The narrowest point inside. Measure interior doors, the stair width, the landing and the ceiling height above any turn. In older homes, 28 to 30 inch interior doors are not unusual.
  • Basement stairs. If a washer, dryer, freezer or furniture is going down, measure the stair width, headroom and any turn at the bottom.
  • Diagonal depth. Know your sofa’s diagonal depth and compare it to the narrowest door on the path.
  • Winter. From roughly November through March, have the drive, the walk and the steps cleared and salted. A long drive is easy to forget about, but a crew needs safe footing the whole way.
⚠️ Spring Thaw and Soft Ground Unpaved drives and lawns can get soft in early spring and after heavy rain. If your drive gets rutted, tell us when scheduling. It is far better to plan around soft ground than to have a loaded truck stuck halfway to the house.

How Quoting and Scheduling Work

Delivery is quoted per address and per item, by phone. Call (734) 444-7277 with your address and what you are buying. For Monroe County addresses, the details above — drive surface, ditch crossings, porch steps, basement stairs — are exactly what we need to hear. The more we know, the more accurate the quote, and the fewer surprises on delivery day.

If you are buying several pieces, ask about bringing them on the same delivery. It is usually simpler for everyone than separate trips from Romulus.

Delivery days follow our Wednesday through Sunday rhythm. Someone 18 or older needs to be home to direct placement and sign. Inspect every piece before signing, open drawers, check corners, and write any damage on the paperwork itself.

Items from our Amazon or Walmart listings are shipped by those retailers, not by our trucks, so their delivery timing and policies are theirs.

For the complete overview of our delivery area, see our Southeast Michigan delivery page. If you have family closer to the warehouse, our Downriver and Belleville & Van Buren pages cover those communities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver furniture to Monroe and Newport?

Yes. Monroe County is part of our regular delivery area, including Monroe (48161 and 48162) and Newport (48166). Because Monroe is farther from our Romulus warehouse than the Wayne County suburbs, distance is part of the quote. Call (734) 444-7277 with your address and the items, and we will quote the delivery before you commit.

How long is the drive from Monroe to the warehouse for pickup?

Under normal traffic it is roughly 30 minutes from Monroe to our warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus, using I-75 and I-275. Newport is a bit closer. Warehouse pickup works for in-stock items if you bring a truck or trailer, and our staff help load. Bring straps and blankets, since most of the trip is highway driving.

Can your truck handle a long gravel driveway?

Tell us about it when you call. A long or gravel drive, a soft shoulder, a steep approach, low branches or a narrow bridge over a ditch all affect how close the truck can get to your door. With that information we can plan the delivery and quote it accurately, rather than finding out on delivery day that the truck cannot reach the house.

Will a sofa fit into an older house in the city of Monroe?

Often yes, but older homes are where measuring matters most. Many older houses have narrower interior doors, enclosed stairways with turns, and steep basement steps. Measure the narrowest point on the path, the stair turn and the ceiling height above it, and compare those to the sofa's diagonal depth before you buy.

What happens if my item arrives damaged?

Inspect every piece before you sign the delivery paperwork, open drawers and check corners, and write any damage on the receipt itself. Photograph anything questionable before the crew leaves. If you find concealed damage after delivery, call us right away at (734) 444-7277, since reporting windows on freight damage are short.
