Furniture Buying Across Michigan & Beyond

πŸ“ Michigan statewide & northwest Ohio πŸš— Warehouse off I-94 & I-275 in Romulus πŸ“ž Call to ask about your address

Where We Actually Deliver

This page is for readers in Grand Rapids, Lansing, Flint, Saginaw, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, the U.P., and across the state line in Toledo and northwest Ohio. Here is the honest answer up front.

We are a family-owned furniture warehouse at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus, in Wayne County, and we have been at it since 1994. Our regular delivery area is Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw and southern Oakland counties. We do not offer statewide delivery.

If your address is farther out, call (734) 444-7277 and ask. We may be able to quote it, or we may not. It depends on the address and the items, and we would rather say no on the phone than make a promise our trucks cannot keep.

If we cannot deliver to you, there are still three practical ways to buy, plus a fair amount of advice on this page that applies anywhere in Michigan.

Option 1: A Warehouse Pickup Road Trip

In-stock items can be picked up at the warehouse if you bring a pickup truck or a trailer. Our staff help load. We are close to both I-94 and I-275, near Detroit Metro Airport, so the warehouse is easy to reach from I-94 if you are coming from the west side of the state, and from I-275 and I-75 if you are coming from the south or from Toledo.

Plan the trip

  • Call first. Confirm the item is in stock and ready before you start a multi-hour drive. Ask for the packaged dimensions and weight so you know it will fit your truck bed or trailer.
  • Check the hours. Wednesday through Friday 11am–5pm, Saturday 11am–4pm, Sunday 12pm–3pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Coming from far away, plan to arrive with time to spare before closing.
  • Measure at home first. Driving three hours each way only to find the sectional will not clear your stairwell is the worst outcome. Use our measuring guide or the fit checker before you leave.
  • Check the forecast for the whole route. Michigan weather can differ a lot between Romulus and where you live, especially in winter or with lake-effect snow on the west side and up north.
  • Bring help for the other end. We help load, but someone needs to help you unload at home.

Securing a load for highway driving

A load that is fine on a slow side street can shift or lift at highway speed. For a long trip:

  • Use ratchet straps, not bungee cords or rope. Bring more than you think you need.
  • Put heavy, flat pieces on the bottom and tall pieces against the front of the bed or trailer.
  • Wrap wood and finished surfaces in moving blankets so they do not rub against each other or the truck.
  • Cover anything upholstered with a tarp that is strapped down tightly. A loose tarp flaps itself apart and can lift the item under it.
  • Stop after the first few miles and re-check every strap, then again at each stop.

A mattress in your own vehicle

Keep the mattress in its plastic or a mattress bag so it stays clean and dry. In a truck bed, lay it flat and strap it across its full width. We do not recommend tying a mattress to a car roof for highway driving; a mattress acts like a sail. Many compressed or boxed mattresses fit in an SUV or a car with the seats folded, which is often easier. Our mattress buying guide covers what to look for before you buy.

Option 2: Our Amazon and Walmart Listings

Some of our products are also listed on Amazon and Walmart. Those orders are shipped by Amazon or Walmart, not by us, and they generally ship far beyond our local area. Shipping availability, timing, returns and delivery policies are set by those retailers, so check the listing for your address before you order.

When buying furniture online, still measure first. A product page lists dimensions, but you have to compare them against your own doors, stairs and rooms.

Option 3: Buy Locally, Using Our Guides

For many readers far from Romulus, the best choice is a furniture store near home. That is fine with us. Our guides were written to be useful wherever you shop:

Buying Advice That Applies Anywhere in Michigan

Winter delivery and road salt

Whoever delivers to you, plan for winter. From roughly November through March, have the driveway, walk and steps shoveled and salted before the truck arrives. A crew carrying a heavy dresser cannot work safely on ice. Put down a mat or old towels inside the door, because salt and slush tracked across hardwood or carpet can leave stains. If you are hauling furniture yourself in winter, wrap it fully: road spray from salted highways can mark finishes and fabric.

Basements and humidity

Michigan basements are often damp in summer. Solid wood, upholstery and mattresses stored or used there can pick up a musty smell or warp over time. Keep furniture a few inches off the floor and away from exterior walls, and consider a dehumidifier. Our furniture care guide covers humidity in more detail.

Older housing stock and narrow stairs

Many Michigan cities have a lot of older homes with narrow interior doors, enclosed stairways and steep basement steps. Measure the narrowest point on the path, the stair turns and the ceiling height above them before you buy anything large. Sectionals, split box springs and pieces with removable legs or arms are your friends in an older house.

Lake cottages, cabins and seasonal homes

Cottages and cabins that sit closed or unheated for part of the year are tough on furniture. Humidity swings and long stretches of damp air favor materials that tolerate them: powder-coated aluminum, resin and HDPE lumber, and outdoor-rated fabrics rather than fine veneers or delicate upholstery. Mattresses benefit from a breathable cover and a frame that lets air circulate. Our outdoor & patio guide compares these materials.

Long rural drives

If you live on a long, gravel or seasonal road, tell any delivery company about it before scheduling. Soft ground in spring thaw, low branches, narrow ditch crossings and steep approaches all affect whether a truck can reach the door.

If you are in our area or close to it, see our Southeast Michigan delivery page, or the pages for Monroe & Newport and Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti, at the edges of our regular delivery area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you deliver to Grand Rapids, Lansing or northern Michigan?

Our regular delivery area is Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw and southern Oakland counties. We do not offer statewide delivery. For an address farther away, call (734) 444-7277 and ask. We may or may not be able to quote it, depending on the address and the items, and we would rather tell you honestly than promise something we cannot do.

Do you deliver to Toledo or northwest Ohio?

Toledo and northwest Ohio are outside our regular delivery area, which covers Wayne, Monroe, Washtenaw and southern Oakland counties in Michigan. You are welcome to call (734) 444-7277 and ask about a specific address, or to pick up in-stock items at our Romulus warehouse with a truck or trailer. Items from our Amazon and Walmart listings ship through those retailers.

Can I drive to the warehouse and pick up furniture myself?

Yes. In-stock items can be picked up at 6345 Beverly Plaza in Romulus if you bring a pickup truck or trailer, and our staff help load. Call ahead to confirm the item is ready. Hours are Wednesday to Friday 11am to 5pm, Saturday 11am to 4pm and Sunday 12pm to 3pm, closed Monday and Tuesday.

Can I buy your products online if I live far away?

Some of our products are listed on Amazon and Walmart. Those orders are shipped by Amazon or Walmart, not by us, so shipping areas, timing, returns and delivery policies are set by those retailers. Check the listing for the delivery details to your address before you order.

How do I transport a mattress in my own vehicle?

Keep it in its plastic or wrap it in a mattress bag so it stays clean and dry. In a truck bed, lay it flat and strap it down with ratchet straps across the full width, not just a rope through the handles. Avoid tying a mattress to a car roof for highway driving. Do not leave a bagged mattress in a hot vehicle longer than needed.
